What is Descriptive Privacy?
Privacy that exists due to the nature of a situation. (e.g., being alone in the woods).
What is Normative Privacy?
A right to privacy based on social, legal, or ethical norms. (e.g., being alone in your home).
What's the core difference between Descriptive and Normative Privacy?
Descriptive is about privacy that is (inherent reality), Normative is about privacy that should be (a right based on rules/expectations).
What is Loss of Privacy?
Privacy is diminished or reduced because of the situation or environment, not necessarily a wrong action. (e.g., working in a communal office).
What is Violation of Privacy?
Privacy is breached because someone infringed on a recognized right to privacy. (e.g., someone following you home).
What are Norms of Appropriateness (in privacy)?
Rules dictating what information is suitable to share or collect within a specific context.
What are Norms of Distribution (in privacy)?
Rules governing how information flows or is shared across different contexts.
