Cardiac conduction system
Responsible for the cardiac cycle
A group of specialized cardiac muscle cells that initiate and distribute electrical impulses throughout the heart
Trace the stimulus for heartbeat from beginning to end.
Sinoatrial Node (SA) - Atrioventricular Node (AV) - AV Bundle - Bundle Branches - Purkinje Fibers
Sinotrial node (SA)
Atrioventricular node (AV)
AV bundle
Bundle branches
Purkinje, pronounced pur-kin-gee, fibers
Trace the electrical activity of the heart from beginning to end.
A contraction impulse starts at the sinotrial node, spreads across the atria to the atrioventricular node, and then progresses down the AV bundle and its bundle branches to the Punkinje fibers.
Study the electrical impulse path and be able to identify and explain the function of each of the structures shown.
