Where is the neutral wire situated?
1. On the left side of the plug
2. The live wire is near the Earth wire
Where is the live wire situated?
1. On the right side of the plug
2. The live wire is situated near the fuse
What is the function of the Earth wire?
1. The Earth wire is for safety
2. This wire is a safety wire to stop the appliance becoming live, by grounding the current
What is the function of the fuse?
1. The fuse is a thin piece of metal that melts if the current becomes too high.
2. This prevents/stops the excess current from passing through the plug
What is the function of the live wire?
1. For safety
2. The live wire provides alternating potential difference from the mains supply ( 230 V )
What is the function of the neutral wire?
1. The neutral wire is for safety
2. The neutral wire completes the circuit and carries current away at a low voltage
What is the function of the circuit breaker?
1. A circuit breaker is a switch that turns off when excess current passes through it, cutting of the current, preventing it from passing through the plug.
2. Circuit breakers protect the ring mains: loops of parallel circuits in the walls of your home
