A settlement founded in 1565.
Jamestown
The first permanent English settlement, founded in 1607.

A period of forced starvation in the Jamestown colony occurring between 1609-1610.
House of Burgesses
The first legislative assembly in the American colonies, established in 1619.
Mayflower Compact/Plymouth Rock
The agreement and subsequent landing that occurred in 1620.
Massachusetts Bay colony
A colony established in 1630.
"Great Pilgrim Migration"
The mass movement of pilgrims occurring between 1630-1640.
Rhode Island colony
A colony established in 1636.
Anne Hutchinson
A religious dissenter who was banished in 1638.
Fundamental Orders of Connecticut
The first written constitution in America, established in 1639.

A law passed in 1649 providing religious freedom to Christian settlers.

A series of laws restricting colonial trade, passed between 1650-1673.

An unofficial policy that began in 1650 and ended in 1754, where the British monarchy relaxed enforcement of strict regulations.
King Phillip's War (Metacom's War)
A conflict between 1675-1676 involving the Wampanoag and New England colonists.
Bacon's Rebellion
An armed rebellion that occurred in Virginia in 1676.
Pennsylvania
A colony established in 1681.
Dominion of New England
The administrative union of English colonies established in 1686.

The series of hearings and prosecutions in Massachusetts in 1692.

A series of religious revivals that took place from the 1720s-1740s.
