Parallel Lines
Lines that are a constant distance apart, never intersecting.
Slope Intercept Form
An equation of the form y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Slope
The ratio of change in the vertical axis (y-axis) to change in the horizontal axis (x-axis).
Proportional Relationships
If one of the related things is multiplied in size by a number, then the other related thing is also multiplied by that number.
Ratio
A comparison of two numbers, often written as a fraction.
Rate of Change
The ratio of the change in the output value and change in the input value of a function.
Y-Intercept
The value of y at the point where a line or graph intersects the y-axis; the value of x is zero (0) at this point.
Linear Equation
An equation that makes a straight line when it is graphed.
Real World Problem
A problem that is an application of a real-life situation involving mathematics.
Point of Intersection
The point at which two lines intersect or cross.
