What bones make up the ankle joint?
The ankle joint is made up of the Tibia, Fibula, Talus, and Calcaneus.
What are the main ligaments of the ankle?
The main ligaments include the anterior and posterior inferior tibiofibular ligaments, anterior talofibular, posterior talofibular, calcaneofibular, and the deltoid ligament.
What is the Tibiofibular joint?
It is an articulation between the tibia and fibula at the lower leg.
What condition is characterized by increased pressure within a muscle compartment?
Compartment Syndrome.
What are the signs and symptoms of Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (Shin Splints)?
Pain along the tibia, especially during and after exercise.
What causes a high ankle sprain?
High ankle sprains are often caused by eversion and dorsiflexion or direct trauma.
What is the main sign of an Achilles tendon rupture?
A 'pop' sound followed by sudden pain.
What is the purpose of the Anterior Drawer Test?
To assess the stability of the anterior talofibular ligament.
What is indicated by pain during the Talar Tilt Test?
It indicates laxity and pain over the deltoid ligaments during eversion and over the lateral ligaments during inversion.
What is assessed during the Thompson Test?
The Thompson Test assesses for an Achilles rupture by evaluating the lack of plantarflexion when the gastrocnemius muscle is squeezed.
