National Recovery Administration (NRA)
set minimum wage, max hours, fair compensation BUT declared unconstitutional in 1935
NLRA (Wagner Act)
protected workers’ rights; right to join unions, right to collective bargaining, created National Labor Relations Board, big win for labor unions
Huey Long
Criticized New Deal for not helping the poor enough; wanted to heavily tax the rich and give the money to the poor
Francis Townsend
proposed _ plan to give $200/month to elderly but they had to spend it within the month in an effort to boost the economy
Social Security Act (1935)
provided old-age pensions, unemployment insurance, aid to disabled and dependent children
Court Packing Plan (1937)
FDR wanted to add more Supreme Court Justices to make court more pro New Deal, seen as abusing power and hurt his reputation
