Parental Development

the process encompassing the period from the formation of an embryo, through the development of a fetus, to birth.

Embryonic stage

Is a period of prenatal development that lasts about eight weeks

Major organ system

a group of organs that work together in the body to preform a complex function, such as pumping blood or processing and utilizing nutrients

Nervous system

A network of nerve tissue that controls how the body moves, thinks, and senses

Fetal stage

The period of prenatal development that begins after the embryo stage and extends until birth

Environment

The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal or plant lives or operates

Cellular neighbors

Are groups of cells that are close together and have similar cell types.

Teratogens

any agent that causes an abnormality following fetal exposure during the pregnancy

Reflexes

an action that is preformed as a response to a stimulus and without conscious thought

Moro Reflex

A normal, protective reflex that occurs when a baby is startled
