Attribution
How people explain the reasons behind someone's actions.
Dispositional Attribution
Blaming someone's behavior on their personality or mood.
Situational Attribution
Blaming someone's behavior on outside factors like the environment.
Fundamental Attribution Error
Focusing too much on someone's personality while ignoring the situation.
Kelley’s Covariation Model
A way of figuring out why someone acts a certain way by looking at how others behave and how consistent the behavior is.
Consensus
How many other people act the same way in a situation.
Distinctiveness
How unique a person's behavior is to a specific situation.
Consistency
How steady a person's behavior is over time in the same situation.
Cognitive Miser
The idea that people try to save mental effort and often use shortcuts instead of thinking things through.
Perceptual Salience
The tendency to focus on people instead of the context that influences their behavior.
Belief in a Just World
The belief that the world is fair, leading to blaming victims for their misfortunes.
Cultural Differences in Attribution
Different cultures have different ways of explaining behavior.
