Hyperbole
exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally. (Example:) “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse”
onomatopoeia
the use of onomatopoeia for literary effect. (Example:) “Buzz” “Sizzle” “Bang” “Boom”
Main Idea
The main idea is the point or message - what an author presents and what a reader takes from a text.
Denotation
a word's literal meaning. (Example:) The boy was pushy. (He was literally pushing people.)
Connotation
the implied or suggested meaning of a word, in addition to its literal or denotative meaning. It's the emotional or cultural association that a word evokes. For example, while both "house" and "home" refer to a place of residence, "home" carries a stronger connotation of warmth, comfort, and belonging.
Point of view
a perspective or standpoint from which something is observed, considered, or evaluated.
