2

What are the three stores of memory according to the MSM?

The sensory store/register, the short-term memory (STM), and the long-term memory (LTM)

3

How is information transferred from the sensory register to the short-term memory?

By paying attention to specific sensory stimuli (e.g. noise)

What are some criticisms of the MSM?

Overly simplistic:

The MSM has been criticised for being overly simplistic, Baddley and Hitch rectify this with the Working Memory Model (WMM) which involves a more detailed model of short-term memory rather than a single unitary store. It is also believed that LTM is divided up into more than one store (episodic, procedural, and semantic).

Research into STM and LTM has low ecological validity/lacks mundane realism
