AFTO Form 46
Ensure prepositioned flight equipment is serviceable, inventoried, and certified on the AFTO Form 46 prior to local flights, prior to departing home station for TDY or deployment, or when the aircraft configuration changes or the aircraft crew changes while TDY or deployed. (11-301V1 AFE)
Straps
It is a gray area however -9 says “Straight-line configuration of devices (straps and chains) will be used whenever possible.” May weaken the integrity of the strap.
Stabilized Approach Criteria
+10/-5 knots from target, ±300 FPM from target descent, ± 15 degrees bank angle.
4 C's
Checklist, Configuration, Clearance, Crosswinds.
Reference Speed
Determines min maneuver speeds.
Threshold Speed
Speed over approach end of the runway corrected for wind.
Vmgs
Expected ground speed just prior to landing.
Loss of outboard aileron control, increases initial buffet speed considerably and rapidly. If necessary, limit to what?
15 degrees.
Cold Weather Guide & Free of Ice
All critical areas should be free of ice or snow prior to takeoff. The horizontal stabilizer upper and lower surfaces, leading edge, fuselage juncture, elevator, control tabs, and balance panels are defined as critical areas.
In the climb-out phase Anti-Ice Fluid could cause what?
Increased drag during takeoff ground run, decreased lift capability at the normal lift-off attitude, increased drag during climb-out and decreased stall margin.
Engine Warm-up & Anti-Ice
0F-32F - anti-ice for 5 minutes, Below 0F - anti-ice for 10 minutes.
Sudden Loss of Oil Pressure in Extreme Cold Weather
Broke or ruptured oil line. Engine oil pressure is rpm sensitive, between IDLE and TAKEOFF settings.
Cold Weather Engine Start Procedure Oil Pressure Considerations
BLK45 - increasing oil pressure
BLK40 a positive oil pressure indication.
Pilot Go-Around Procedures
Pickle - Actuate RGA/TOGA switch
Power - Apply power, do not exceed max N1
Boards - Speed brakes set to zero degrees
Flaps - Flaps to 30
Gear - "Gear-Up" after positive rate of climb
Flaps - Raise flaps to 20 or 0 depending on intentions.
Crosswind Limits
25 knots all pilots full stop
T&G Limits - AC:10 knots, IP:15 knots, 3-Eng:15 knots.
VHB
Hot Brakes - Max speed stop without exceeding 50% of max energy cape.
VMB
Max Braking - Max speed stop without exceeding max energy cape.
S1
Decision Speed - Single engine failure, safe takeoff.
VROT
Rotation - Rotation from the 3 point attitude is initiated.
VTO
Takeoff - Speed that must be accelerated to before leaving the ground.
VMCG
Min speed to lose outboard engine and maintain directional control.
VR
Refusal Speed - Max Speed to stop on available runway.
Seatbelt
For all phases of flight where you are sitting down.
Approach Procedures what category is a KC-135
KC-135 is considered a Category D Aircraft.
Circling Approach Exceeding 166 knots
You are now a category E minima.
Multiple Instrument Approach Patterns in Clean Configuration Maintain a minimum of what?
VRef +70KIAS until crossing the initial approach fix or turning base left if receiving radar vectors.
SDP - Special Departure Procedure
A type of departure procedure that can be found on the FMAC Takeoff planning DATA
May be selected when maximum takeoff weight is limited by the use of current ODP corrected for current day conditions
HSI
Displays navigation, weather, flight plan map, TCAS, & terrain data
STAR
Standard Terminal Arrival
Oxygen Requirements
Depends on altitude and position you are currently occupying
Check Chart against altitude in the 202V3
Post Engine Start EGT Limits
610- 870
Section 5 Chart
What does the IB need to have positive control of during A/R?
Communication with the receiver and the ruddevator control stick
What is Powered Rudder?
Direction control can be felt through the rudder pedals and transmitted by cable linkage to the rudder.
What is SYD?
Series Yaw Damper
Intended for full time operation to improve lateral direction and airplane handling by decreasing a dutch roll.
Deflects the rudder and give no movement throughout the pedals.
What is EFAS?
Assists the pilot through an outboard engine failure by immediately deflecting the rudder to aid in preventing the adverse yaw. Shall be engaged during all takeoffs and landing and during all phases of flight when the flaps are down and and airspeed is less that 200 KIAS
What are Ailerons?
Each wing has two ailerons and four spoilers
This helps with controlling the aircraft roll.R
What is the Outboard Aileron Lockout Mechanism?
Prevents movement of the outboard ailerons when the flaps are fully retracted.
What is RGA?
Rotation Go Around
What us TOGA?
Takeoff Go Around
What is Max N1?
102
What is FPM?
Feet per Minute
How many types of takeoff departure procedures are there?
Four
SDP - Special Departure Procedure
OBST - Obstacle
ODP - Obstacle Departure Procedure
ODP with OBST
What does the X’s, /, -, mean in the forms?
X = Unsafe or unserviceable
/ = Discrepancy exist but not urgent or dangerous
- = Condition of equipment is unknown and requires further inspection (20-1)
What can you do if the APU battery is low?
Ask the pilots to disengage the APU Battery and operate of the Airplane battery
Where are the recharge outlets for the O2 bottle? How many?
-PILOT station
-BO station
-Nav station
-Pax station (aft of cargo door)
-Emer station(left wall of the cargo compartment above main wheel well access)
-IB stationÂ
What’s the difference between the upgraded 358-1506v-4 mask and our old mask?
Has a continuous vent purge valve and will indicate a white flow indicator even with a proper fit of the mask.
Can we deviate for crew report?
Need not be accomplished at same time as long as it’s completed before the interior inspectionÂ
How many ways are there to set off the ELT? E475
1. Pilot can activate it from his ELT panel in the cockpit
2. It activates if it experiences 5gs for 11 milliseconds
3. If it's removed from the aircraft wall
