Punctuation
Marks used in writing to separate elements and clarify meaning.
Noun
A person, place, or thing.
Pronoun
A word that replaces a noun.
Verb
An action word or state of being.
Adjective
A word that describes a noun.
Adverb
A word that describes how, when, or where something occurs.
Conjunction
A word that joins words or clauses (e.g., and, but).
Preposition
A word that shows the relationship of a noun or pronoun to another word.
Interjection
A word or phrase that expresses emotion (e.g., Wow! Ouch!).
Simple Sentence
A sentence consisting of just one main clause.
Compound Sentence
A sentence that contains two independent clauses joined by a conjunction.
Complex Sentence
A sentence that contains an independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
Fragment
An incomplete sentence.
Subject-Verb Agreement
The subject must agree with the verb in number.
