Teens explore roles, values, and identities, forming a solid sense of self or experiencing confusion about their future
6 itmacy vs isolation
Young adults build intimate, loving relationships, or face isolation and loneliness
7 generativity vs stagnation
Middle-aged adults contribute to the world by raising children or working, or feel unproductive and stagnant

Older adults reflect on their lives, achieving satisfaction (wisdom) or regret and despair

The desire for respect, self-esteem, recognition, competence, and appreciation

The highest level, representing the pursuit of personal growth, potential, and self-fulfillment
