sensory receptors definition
specialised nerve cells that respond to a particular stimulus to produce a nerve impulse/action potential.
Transdeucers
convert one from of energy into another (so electrical)
Pacinian corpuscle
pressure receptors that detect pressure change/vibration on skin
end or receptor neuron found in middle
Resting potential
Na+ channels closed
NaK+ pumps are pumping Na* out and K+ in
K+ channels are open so K+ moves out.
Na+ channels are stretch dependent
generator potential
when pressure is applied, the membrane around neurone stretches
Stretching causes Na+ channels to open and Na ions move in causing depolarisation.
If threshold reached, AP will move down axon
