Sagittal - Body Plane
runs vertically from top to bottom, divides the body into left and right portions

Midsagittal Plane
Sagittal plane that runs directly down the midline of the body (vertically from top to bottom)

Parasagittal Plane
Sagittal Planes that are UNEVEN - not down the midline (still vertical and runs from top to bottom)

Frontal (coronal)
Cuts body in half with an anterior half and posterior half (front and back)

Transverse
Horizontal Plane

Posterior (dorsal)
back of the body cavity
Cranial cavity
brain / skull area

Vertebral canal
spine area

Anterior (ventral)
Front of the body
Thoracic cavity
chest

Pleural (Thoracic)
houses left and right lungs

Mediastinum (Thoracic)
in between left and right pleural cavities

Pericardial
in the mediastinum region on the lower half part

Abdominopelvic cavity

Abdominal cavity

Pelvic cavity

Peritoneal cavity
the SPACE located directly within the abdominopelvic cavity
