Ovaries
Small almond-sized organs that produce estrogen and progesterone, releasing one egg cell monthly.
Fallopian Tube
Tube that carries the egg cell from the ovary to the uterus in a 5-7 day journey.
Ectopic Pregnancy
Occurs when a fertilized egg implants in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus.
Uterus
Hollow muscular organ where a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall.
Cervix
The neck of the uterus that dilates to 10cm during childbirth and is a common site for female reproductive cancer.
Vagina
Elastic birth canal allowing the passage of the baby during childbirth.
Clitoris
Sensory pleasure center in the vulva, not directly involved in reproduction.
Labia Majora and Minora
Folds of skin protecting the entrance to the vagina.
3 Stages of Labor
1st stage - from the first contraction to full dilation, 2nd stage - delivery of the baby, 3rd stage - delivery of the placenta after the baby's birth.
