Ovaries- about the size of an almond, produce estrogen and progesterone; one ovary a month will release an egg cell (ovum)

Fallopian Tube: carries ovum to the uterus, journey takes 5-7 days

Ectopic Pregnancy: When fertilitzed egg cell implatns itelsef int he fallopian tube

Uterus: Also called the womb, hollow musclular organ, fetilitzed egg cell attaches to the uterine wall.

Cervix: neck of the uterus, open to 10cm during the passage of the baby, opens slightly during mestruration to allow blood flow to leave the body, most common site for female reproductive cancer- PAP test

Vagina: Final birth canal, very elastic walls to allow for passage of the baby

Clitoris: pleasuer center of the vulva, doesn’t have a central role in reproduction.

Labia Majora and minora: folds of skin that protect the entrance to the vagina,

3 stages of labor: 1st stage: from the first contraction of the uterus to cervix becoming dilated to 10 cm. 2nd stage: "acute delivery of the baby; 3rd stage: afterbirth (placenta) is delivered about 10 minutes after the birth of the baby.
