Historical Revisionism
Reinterpreting past events or presenting new narratives based on newly discovered facts; updating the past using the norms of academic research.
Historical Negationism (Denialism)
Illegitimate revisionism that distorts history to spread misinformation or promote a specific agenda.
Golden Age (Martial Law period)
A label used in some narratives to describe the Martial Law period as a favorable era.
Reign of Silence
A term describing the suppression of information during Martial Law.
Misinformation
False information spread without malicious intent.
Disinformation
False information spread deliberately to mislead.
Illegitimate Historical Revisionism
Revisionism conducted improperly with harmful intent, often to spread misinformation or advance a particular agenda.
Martial Law
Substitution of civilian authority with military authority; may include curfews, military tribunals, and suspension of habeas corpus during crises.
EDSA Revolution
The February 25, 1986 bloodless uprising that ousted a dictator and demonstrated the power of People Power and democracy.
Habeas Corpus
The legal right protecting individuals from unlawful imprisonment; its suspension during crises expedites legal processes.
