The Day Before Saturday - DJ

Alyssa: Twin. We live next door.

DJ: Sooo, what’s the situation?

Jaylah: Well… I know both of you know River, because you (poking DJ on the shoulder) keep spilling my business to Alyssa.

DJ: (Shrugging) Oops!

Jaylah: Anyways, so both of you know River. I was gonna share a cheesecake with him while we watch movies tonight.

DJ: Did he ditch you and you need us to fill his place?

Jaylah: No, goofy, Nate ate the whole cheesecake and River'. gonna be here in like, eight minutes. We need to find a new cheesecake before he gets here.

DJ: Couldn't you have just gone to the store?

Jaylah: That might be the smartest thing you've ever said, but no.

DJ: Why not?

Alyssa: My manager forgot to order more.

DJ: Yeah, that could be a problem.

Alyssa: Bad news, JT just ran out of cheesecake.

DJ: How does she have everything BUT cheesecake?

Jaylah: Aight, we need a plan B.

DJ: I didn’t know you were having THAT kinda movie night.

Alyssa: No, airhead, she means a backup plan.

DJ: Oh! My bad, doing!

Jaylah: Okay, we have maybe five minutes left before River gets here, let’s brainstorm.

DJ: We could go see if the store restocked.

Alyssa: I might have one more option...

Just then, a car can be heard pulling up outside with music loudly playing from it. Then the music stops as the car can be heard turning off. The three friends sit there in petrified silence.

DJ: (Whispering) Who’s that?

River: (shouting towards the Green Room door) I’ll go ahead and turn the TV on!

Jaylah comes back on stage carrying a large fleece blanket. Alyssa and DJ sneak through behind her, hiding behind the back row of seats.

DJ: (Whispering to Alyssa) Is that River?

Alyssa: (Whispering back) Shush!

DJ: I understand why Jaylah was freaking out over him he’s fiiine.

Alyssa: (looking over at DJ) Well, I was trying to leave. Doofus here wanted to get a look at River.

DJ: Okay, well can you blame me?

Jaylah: I'm chill, I'm chill. (she turns back to Alyssa and DJ) Now, get out of here, this is an A-B occasion, see yourselves out.

DJ: (while getting dragged away by Alyssa) Can I at least say hi to him?
