Local Area Network (LAN)

Intranet
A private LAN that functions like a mini Internet for people in the same company, facilitating file sharing and collaboration.
Small Office, Home Office (SOHO)
A network setup for small businesses that can be easily established in any office or home, emphasizing the use of more advanced routers.
Network Administrator
An individual responsible for overseeing the LAN, ensuring its safety, and managing access controls.
Switch
An intermediate system used to establish contention-free network segments at the data link layer (Layer 2), which can be unmanaged.
Router
A network device that links dissimilar networks and operates at the network layer, capable of forwarding packets between different network types.
