This refers to local authorities having the authority to approve or refuse plans requested by tourism developers. They oversee the management of land and buildings to prevent inappropriate developments.

usually a charitable organization that relies on donations from its supporters to support a particular cause. e.g. world wildlife fund

Working in partnership and seeking up to date opinions from all stakeholders prevents conflicts and disagreements in destination development management. Many non-commercial organizations play a key role in promoting sustainability, through involving the local population as well as visitors in conservation and preservation activities.
