Titration
A process to determine the concentration of a solution by reacting it with a solution of known concentration.
NaOH
Sodium hydroxide, the substance whose concentration is being determined in this experiment.
HCl
Hydrochloric acid, the titrant with a known concentration (0.10 mol/L) used to titrate the NaOH solution.
Buret
A piece of lab equipment used to accurately dispense variable amounts of a solution (HCl) in a titration.
Erlenmeyer flask
A conical flask used to hold the solution being titrated (NaOH) and to facilitate mixing during titration.
Phenolphthalein
An acid-base indicator used to visually determine the endpoint of the titration (colorless).
Molarity (mol/L)
A unit of concentration expressing the amount of solute (NaOH) in moles per liter of solution.
m/V%
An expression of concentration as mass of solute per volume of solution, expressed as a percentage.
Endpoint
The point in a titration where the indicator changes color, signaling the completion of the reaction.
Titration calculation
Calculations to determine the concentration of NaOH using data from titration (volumes of NaOH and HCl and concentration of HCl).
