Muster 5
A billing form (Abrechnungsschein) used when the eGK is technically unreadable, for newborns without an eGK, or when a patient refuses to present the eGK but has proof of insurance.
Muster 19
An emergency/representative certificate (Notfall-/Vertretungsschein) used for holiday coverage, emergency services, or emergencies involving external patients.
Muster 21
A child sick leave certificate (Kinderkrankenschein) used to care for a sick child; allows 10 days per child/year/parent, or a maximum of 25 days for 3 or more children.
Muster 1
A certificate of incapacity for work (Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigung/AU) issued for work disability; can be backdated for a maximum of 3 days.
Muster 20
A reintegration plan (Wiedereingliederungsplan) designed for a step-by-step return to professional life following a long-term illness.
DMP (Disease Management Program)
A free, structured treatment program specialized for patients with chronic illnesses.
Consiliary examination (Konsiliaruntersuchung)
An examination limited to diagnostics and consultation without providing therapy.
Disciplines requiring a referral
A referral is always required for the Laboratory, Radiology, Radiation Therapy, and Nuclear Medicine.
Validity of a referral
A referral remains valid until the following quarter.
Benefit of a referral
It ensures that a medical report (Befundbericht) is returned to the referring physician.
Aut idem
A regulation where the active ingredient and dosage remain identical, but the manufacturer of the medication is allowed to be changed.
Noctu
Indicates medication is needed urgently at night; the patient is not charged a night surcharge.
Patient Status 1
Refers to the standard insured person (Versicherter).
Patient Status 3
Refers to a family-insured person (Familienversicherter).
Patient Status 5
Refers to a retiree (Rentner).
Backdating an AU
Generally not permitted, with a maximum exception of 3 days.
New initial certificate (Erstbescheinigung)
Required if there is an interruption in the AU or if a new diagnosis is established.
Wage continuation (Lohnfortzahlung)
Continued payment of wages for a maximum of 6 weeks, provided a certificate of incapacity for work (AU) is submitted.
Co-payment exemption (Zuzahlungsbefreiung)
Applicable to persons under 18, during pregnancy, for work accidents, social welfare recipients, and Bundeswehr soldiers in emergencies.
Validity of co-payment exemption
The exemption remains valid until the end of the current year.
