McDonald v. Chicago
Plaintiffs argued that the 2nd Amendment should also apply to the states. This was found to be appropriate because the 14th Amendment makes the 2nd Amendment’s right to keep and bear arms for the purpose of self-defense applicable to the states. The Court extended the 2nd Amendment’s limits on restricting an individual’s right to bear arms to state and local gun controls.
