Cardiac Output
Amount of blood pumped in one minute.
Cardiac Output (CO) Formula
Stroke Volume (SV) x Heart Rate (HR). Measured in Liters per minute (L/min).
Normal Cardiac Output at Rest
5-6 L/min
Ejection Fraction
A measurement of how well your heart pumps blood out of the left ventricle. Normal range: 50-75%.
End-Diastolic Volume
The amount of blood in the ventricles before the heart contracts.
Stroke Volume
The amount of blood ejected per contraction. Normal range: 50-100 mL.
Diastole
Relaxation of the heart.
Systole
Contraction of the ventricles pumping blood.
