why should babies receive baptism asap?
In case anything happens to the baby so it would ensure their eternal life in heaven.

if a catechumen dies defending their christian faith, they have assurance of salvation, they are martyrs.
baptism of desire
sincere catechumens have assurance of salvation if they die unexpectedly during the catechumenate. they are NOT martyrs (not babies)
who may be godparents?
firm believers
1.) male and/or one female godparent
2.) at least 16 years old and confirmed
3.) catholic
4.) cant be a parent of the person baptized.
does the church teach that unbaptized babies go to heaven?
no, we have HOPE they go to heaven because of Jesus’ tenderness towards children and His mercy.
do orthodox/protestants have to be baptized again if they want to become catholic?
no, the church assumed major orthodox/protestants communities that they have valid baptisms if there is some record of them.
