Money. You know it, you love it. They say it doesn’t grow on trees. Now, as someone who has spent countless hours studying Rocks and Minerals, I can tell you that money can be found in the form of gold in hydrothermal veins, placer deposits, and sulfide deposits. Unfortunately, it may be difficult for us to get very much of that gold, as it’s pretty rare. Looks like we’ll have to settle for fundraising some other way.

Perhaps we’ll have to sell off our notes to the highest bidder, or run a bake sale (I mean, who can say no to fresh-baked cookies?), or sell some other form of snacks, or run a trivia tournament, or a raffle.

These ideas will make for fun and engaging fundraisers that I’m confident will be successful.

Now that we’ve got all this money, we need to keep track of it.

I know, I know, it sounds boring, but it’s very important that we know if a single cent is stolen from us and so we can budget effectively. Lucky for you, spreadsheets are one of my favorite things ever. In fact, I even have one for my own personal finances! It adds funds whenever I get money, and subtracts when I spend it, letting me know how I’m doing financially. Plus, I can record any receipts there, too, in case the IRS comes knocking.

So, our money is organized. How do we spend it? On our registration and meal fees for tournaments, team merch, and wonderful snacks, which, unfortunately don’t come for free. I will create a budget to use the money from our fundraisers most responsibly and effectively, taking into account team preferences and suggestions.

Outside the realm of finances, the job description also includes being the team’s secretary. I love writing emails and organization, such as my google drive folders for every class and each unit.

Of course, it’s not as simple as it may sound, but I promise that I will put in the work needed to pull this off.

For any fundraisers, I will make sure they are well-organized. I will begin planning weeks in advance. I will involve the team in the process if anyone has any ideas or wants to help out. I will get us posters and announcements to advertise and dedicate as much time as needed to guarantee success. Whether that means writing that history essay just a little bit faster, or, worse case scenario, mining for gold myself, I will do my very best to make sure that this team keeps running and remains the amazing place it’s been for me.
