main sensory nucleus of CN 5 in the pons

second order neuron trigeminothalamic pathway cell body is in

main sensory nucleus of CN 5

second order neuron then

crosses midline in pons and ascends in contralateral trigeminal lemniscus

second order neuron trigeminothalamic pathway synapses in

VPM in thalamus

third order neuron trigeminothalamic pathway cell body is in

VPM in thalamus

third order neuron trigeminothalamic pathway passes through

posterior limb of internal capsule and projects to primary sensory cortex post central gyrus (laterally where face sensation is represented)
