How is detail created in the figures of the men? (3) POSITIVES

  • Sense of symmetry and order (typical of the Archaic period) conveys the respectability of the figures → e.g. the men are in vertical lines of composition and in profile view, repeated walking pose, aligned at the waist

  • They have the deepest relief reinforcing their significance in the narrative and superiority over the cattle

  • Repeated diagonal spears created movement
