Interpret r²
(r²) percent of the variation in (y) is explained by the linear relationship with (x).
Interpret residual
The actual (context) was (residual) above or below the predicted value for x=#.
Interpret y-intercept
When x=0 (context), the predicted y context is y-int.
Interpret slope
For each additional x context, the predicted y context increases/decreases by (slope).
slope formula
b(slope)= r x s y/s x
y hat= a + bx
a= y mean - b mean x
What kind of residual plot would indicate that the linear model is GOOD?
A residual plot with no pattern between the residuals is a good linear model.
