(Albay, Bicol Region) First Eruption: Recorded in 1616. Most Destructive Eruption: February 1, 1814 (The eruption that buried the town of Cagsawa). Landmark: The Cagsawa Ruins (specifically the church belfry) remains a famous tourist spot and a reminder of Mayon's power.

(Zambales / Pampanga / Tarlac) 1991 Eruption: One of the strongest eruptions of the 20th century. Climate Impact: It ejected a massive cloud of ash and sulfur dioxide that cooled the global surface temperature by about 0.5°C to 0.6°C.

(Cuenca, Batangas) Located on the rim of the Taal Caldera. The mountain's structure is a result of the prehistoric, massive eruptions of the ancient Taal Volcano.

(Indonesia) Located in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra. Known for its 1883 eruption, which sent shockwaves that traveled around the globe several times.
Mt. Kanlaon
(Negros) Legend of Laon: Stories tell of an ancient king or deity named Datu Laon who defeated a dragon living on the mountain. Laon and Kan: Another version tells of the tragic love story between Prince Laon and Princess Kan.
Mt. Makiling
(Laguna and Batangas) Maria Makiling: The most famous diwata (guardian spirit) of the forest. Legend says she was a kind-hearted fairy who provided for the locals but withdrew her protection after being betrayed by her human lover.
Mt. Banahaw
(Quezon and Laguna) The Holy Mountain: Considered a sacred site or "Power Mountain." It is a potentially active volcano (not dormant).
Mt. Isarog
(Camarines Sur, Bicol) Known for its rich biodiversity and as the home of the Agta Isarog, an indigenous group native to the mountain.
