Skill variety (job requires you to do different types of work)
Identity (job allows completion of an identifiable piece of work)
Significance (work that you do feels like it impacts others)
Autonomy (freedom to make decisions on how you work)
Feedback (on the job from the job, not from supervisor)
What are the 2 moderators of the job characteristics theory?
Knowledge & skill (if job varies/autonomous but you lack the skills, you will be more stressed)
Growth need & strength (people have personal need to grow/be challenged but it depends on the person)
What is job enrichment?
The attempt to raise the scores of the 5 job characteristics
What is the affective events theory?
Workplace events can cause emotional reactions
A satisfied employee feels good about the job on average but is prone to fluctuations
