The actions of an individual are more sinful than that of a group because a sin is a personal act. Sin is an act of freedom on the part of an individual person, not a group. Explain if actions in a group are more or less sinful than the actions of an individual.

Confessing your sins aloud to a priest shows that you are humble enough to admit that you sin to another person. Through saying your sins aloud, the priest will give you absolution and forgiveness, and will give you Penance in order to make up for those sins. The priest is sworn to secrecy, and will never tell anyone your sins.

Explain the benefit of confessing one's sins aloud to a priest, rather than silently to God.

Old Testament: suffering was a moral condition, each instance of suffering resulted from a specific sin, God blessed "good people" with health, many children, riches, and a long life, and Israelites believed God's justice remains intact and good people if not rewarded in this life will be rewarded in the next

Jesus' Teaching: sickness and death are not God's ways of punishing people, God loves the sick and disabled just as much as he loves healthy people, God's love is stronger than sickness, pain, suffering, and death, God does not abandon you when you are sick or suffering, he shares your suffering, the sick should not be treated as outcasts

How does the idea of suffering in the Old Testament differ from Jesus' teaching about suffering?
