Excess reactant (XS)
reactant that isn’t fully consumed during the reaction
Limiting Reactant (LR)
Reactant that is completely consumed during the reaction; when gone, the reaction stops.
Theoretical Yield (TY)
mathematical prediction of amount(s) of product(s) made by the quantities of reactant used.
Experimental Yield (AY)
Amount of product(s) that are actually produced by the reaction; product must be physically collected and measured (often given)
Percent Yield (%Y)
(AY/TY) x 100%
