Learning
The process of acquiring new information or behavior through experience.
Associative Learning
Learning that certain events occur together. The events may be 2 stimuli (classical conditioning) or a response and its consequences (operant conditioning).
Behaviorism
How people learn through their interactions with the environment.
Behavior is acquired through conditioning and conditioning occurs through interacting with the environment.
Classical Conditioning
A learning process that associates a neutral stimulus with a stimulus that produces a natural response.
Ex: Little Albert Experiment
Unconditioned Stimulus (UCS)
A stimulus that automatically triggers a response without any prior learning because it is a human survival instinct.
Unconditioned Response (UCR)
An automatic, involuntary reaction to a stimulus that happens naturally and without prior learning due to human survival instincts.
Conditioned Response (CR)
A learned behavior that occurs in response to a neutral stimulus.
Conditioned Stimulus (CS)
A neutral stimulus that has been paired with an unconditioned stimulus to produce a conditioned response.
Neutral Stimulus (NS)
A stimulus that doesn't initially cause a response. **However, it can become a conditioned stimulus that triggers a conditioned response through classical conditioning
