Homicide
The intentional killing of another person.
Filicide
The act of a parent killing their child.
Neocide
The act of killing a newborn within 24 hours after birth.
Infanticide
The act of killing an infant older than 24 hours.
Parricide
The murder of a parent by their child.
Mass Murder
The killing of 4 or more people at one location.
Serial Murder
Multiple murders of at least 2 victims at different times, usually involving a cooling-off period.
Organized Killer
A serial killer who is intelligent, emotionally controlled, and able to maintain a facade of normalcy.
Disorganized Killer
A serial killer who is socially inept, below average IQ, and whose murders tend to be spontaneous.
MacDonald Triad
A set of three behavioral problems: fire setting, cruelty to animals, and bedwetting; often observed in violent offenders.
Overcontrolled Hostility Scale (O-H)
A scale used to identify individuals with signs of overcontrolling emotional responses.
Extraversion
A personality trait characterized by outgoingness and high energy.
Introversion
A personality trait characterized by being reserved and focused on inner thoughts.
Reactive Violence
Aggressive behavior that is impulsive, often in response to a perceived threat or provocation.
Paraphilic Disorder
A condition characterized by atypical sexual interests, including violent or non-consensual activities.
