What pathway is this?
dorsal column medial lemniscus
for touch
Types of pain transmission (slow vs fast)
1st pain fast: sharp pain is carried by myelinated A-delta fibers
2nd pain slow: dull aching pain is carried by unmyelinated C-fibers

name all parts of dorsal column medial lemniscus
dorsal column medial lemniscus

What is this pathway?
Spinothalamic ascending pain pathway

name all parts of spinothalamic ascending pain pathways
Types of cells
Pacinian corpuscle: changing rapidly b/c of stimuli, sensing pressure and vibration (largest)
Raffini’’s ending: detect skin stretch,
Merkek’s discs: detect sustained pressure, texture, and fine spatial details, with high density in fingertips, slow adapting (smallest)
Meissner corpuscles: rapidly adapting, specialize in sensing light touch, low-frequency vibration and slippage, crucial for grip control (second smallest)
draw primary visual cortex
