The graph is a straight line through the origin ie. the resistance of the wire is directly proportional to the length.

short wire:
As the electrons in the current pass through the wire, they collide with each other and with the ions in the metallic lattice.

The longer the wire, the more ions there are for the electrons to collide with, hence more resistance.
