How is the selection of cabinet secretaries an example of checks and balances
Checks and Balances is the principle that each branch sets limits on the other two. The selection of the Cabinet secretaries is a perfect example of Checks and Balance. The first step is the President appoints a person to be a department secretary. However, that person cannot take over until the Senate confirms their appointment. The Legislative Branch (Senate) checks the Executive Branch (President) powers by confirming only those people who are best suited for the job.
