CPD

Continuing professional development, which refers to the acquisition of advanced knowledge, skills, and ethical values in a specialized field of study or practice.

Lifelong learning

Learning activities undertaken throughout one's life to develop professional competencies and qualifications.

Self-directed learning

Learning activities such as online training, seminars, and non-degree courses that do not undergo CPD accreditation but can be awarded CPD units by the CPD Council.

CPD Credit Unit

The value of learning that can be transferred to a qualification achieved from formal, informal, or non-formal learning settings, including professional work experience.

CPD Council

A body created to promote and ensure the continuous improvement of professionals, in accordance with national, regional, and international standards of practice.

CPD Council Secretariat

Provides technical, administrative, and operational support to the CPD Councils and the PRBs in the implementation of CPD programs.

Transition period

A period where certain professionals are exempted from CPD requirements, such as professionals working overseas and newly licensed professionals.

Proficiency Tiers

Categorization of CPD activities based on skill acquisition levels, including beginner, competent, proficient, and expert.

CPD Programs

CPD Credit Unit

Abbreviation for Credit Unit, which represents the value of learning that can be accumulated towards a qualification.

Certificate of Attendance

A certificate awarded for attending/participating in a course, where 50% of the full credit units are given based on attendance/participation.

Certificate of Completion

A certificate awarded for attending/participating in a course and successfully completing pre- and post-tests, where full credit units are given.

Registered medical technologists (RMTs)

Individuals who have completed the necessary education and training to become certified medical technologists. They are eligible to earn a maximum of 15 creditable units for self-directed and/or lifelong learning.

Medical laboratory technicians (MLTs)

Professionals who have completed the required education and training to become certified medical laboratory technicians. They can earn a maximum of 10 creditable units for self-directed and/or lifelong learning.
