The narrator and protagonist of Kiffe Kiffe Demain, she is the fifteen year old daughter of Moroccan immigrants. Doria has become withdrawn from school and some parts of her community, following her father's abandonment.
Doria
Doria's mother, Yasmina, grew up in rural Morocco and was a traditional wife and mother until her husband left them. She has a strong social network and support system throughout the novel. By the end of the novel, she has increased self-confidence and finds a new job as a caferteria worker.
Yasmina
He has old fashioned ideas about gender roles and a strong sense of what he is entitled to as a man in a male-dominated society. He achieves his goal of fathering a son, while Yasmina and Doria build better lives for themselves without him.
Doria's father
He is a small-time drug dealer in his late twenties who initally spends too much time around Doria's building. He gave up his academic abitions after going to prison and worries about becoming a failure. He occasionally plays the role of a father figure in Doria's life.
Hamoudi
She is Doria's therapist, although Doria knows very little about her she is seen as a central figure in Doria's life. She is one of the people who attends Doria's dream funeral.
Mme. Burlaud
She is Doria and Yasmina’s social worker although Doria can never remember her name and just gives her nicknames. When Mme.Du returns at the end of the book she seems genuinly happy for the positive changes in Yasmina's and Doria's lives.
Mme. Du-?
She is an Algerian woman who is one of Yamina's oldest friends in France.
