Occupation is the act of a country/military force/ taking control over another country/piece of land. Jesus had to deal with this since Rome had occupied the "Holy Land" at the time and Christians were not treated too well by the Romans. Jesus was eventually crucified.

Inflation caused prices to increase, disease caused the population to decline, and low confidence in the empire meant that the people were probably thinking the empire was not as good anymore.

Currently, COVID-19 has (and still is) spreading around the United States. There is now a pandemic and this pandemic has led to various problems, including inflation. In the modern United States, there has been political tension and some Americans don't really trust the government that much.
