Sensemaking theory

A theory that explains how individuals experience a discrepancy in routine, triggering an interpretive process to make sense of the situation, akin to being on "autopilot."

Retrospective

Looking back on or dealing with past events or situations.

Enactive

Learning through doing or engaging in activities.

Social

Involving interactions with others or within a group.

Ongoing

Continuous or in progress.

Driven

Motivated or compelled to act in a certain way.

Involves identity

Pertains to the sense of self or who a person is.

Individual level

Relating to the personal experiences or actions of a single person.

Promotions to higher ranks

Advancements to superior positions within an organization.

Domestic transfer

Moving from one job location to another within the same country.

International transfer

Relocating from one job location to another in a different country.

Career plateau

A psychological transition where further advancements are unlikely, requiring individuals to make sense of the situation.

Mergers

When two equal partners or organizations combine their assets, operations, personnel, and culture into one entity.

Acquisitions

Involves one organization, usually larger, purchasing and integrating another organization into its operations and culture.
