Thenar Muscles
Group of muscles located at the base of the thumb responsible for its movement.
Hypothenar Muscles
Group of muscles found at the base of the little finger involved in its movements.
Adductor Pollicis
Muscle in the hand that helps in the adduction of the thumb.
Ulnar Nerve
Nerve that supplies the hypothenar muscles and the adductor pollicis.
Median Nerve
Nerve that supplies the thenar muscles and 1st and 2nd lumbricals.
Flexor Pollicis Brevis
Thenar muscle responsible for flexing the thumb.
Abductor Pollicis Brevis
Thenar muscle that abducts the thumb.
Opponens Pollicis
Thenar muscle that allows opposition of the thumb.
Lumbricals
Muscles that flex the fingers at the metacarpophalangeal joints.
Palmar Interossei
Muscles that adduct the fingers toward the third digit.
Dorsal Interossei
Muscles that abduct the fingers away from the third digit.
Froment's sign
A clinical test indicating weakness of the adductor pollicis due to ulnar nerve injury.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Condition caused by compression of the median nerve at the wrist.
Guyon's Canal Syndrome
Condition resulting from compression of the ulnar nerve in the hand.
Claw Hand
Deformity resulting from ulnar nerve injury, causing inability to extend the fingers.
Ape Hand Deformity
Condition caused by median nerve injury resulting in adduction of the thumb.
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
Compression of the ulnar nerve at the elbow.
Wrist Drop
Loss of wrist extension due to radial nerve injury.
Musculocutaneous Nerve
Nerve that supplies the anterior compartment muscles of the arm.
Radial Nerve
Nerve that supplies the extensor muscles of the forearm.
Brachial Plexus
Network of nerves formed by the ventral rami of C5, C6, C7, C8, and T1.
