What is groundhog day based on and what is the legend?

based on a custom brought to American by people from Germany and Great Britain who believed that February 2nd was a time for forecasting the weather for the next six weeks. According to legend the groundhog or woodchuck comes out of hibernation on this day. If he sees his shadow he returns to his hole for six more weeks of winter weather, however if the weather is cloudy and he can't see his shadow, spring will come soon.

What are the theories behind Valentine's Day?

Lupercalia, an ancient Roman festival and feast connected with fertility rites. Or others associate it with one or more saints of the early christian church one of whom was named Valentine. He was imprisoned for not worshiping Roman Gods and the kids missed him and gave him love letters through the cell bars. Another is an old English legend that says bird choose their mates on February 14th.

What are the basic wiring techniques-- describe them.
Pierce wiring- for carnations and roses.Hook wiring for mums, daisies, etc., hairpin writing uses fine wire to support fragile and tiny florets. The insertion wiring is similar to hook except no hook is required. Wrap around wiring- filler flowers and small clusters of tiny mass flowers often wired with this. same as clutch wiring. Cross wiring: you can cross wet cotton into the flowere. Stitch wiring: lengthens stems and provides support.
