P2 - Thermal Insulation (Testing Different Types of Materials)

Step 1

Wrap 4/5 Beakers with different insulating material using rubber bands to secure insulation and ensuring small air gap

Step 2

Control → Beaker with no wrapped insulation

Step 3

Cut circles of cardboard to form lids for each beaker

Step 4

Fill each beaker with warm water from kettle and record initial temp for each beaker

Step 5

Start stopwatch and measure temperature of the beakers every 3 mins

Step 6

Calculate change in temp for each beaker by using the formula: (initial temp - final temp)
