What happens when there’s change in a system?
Energy is transferred
How does energy transfer by heating?
Heat increases the energy in the kinetic store of the particles that make up that system, which increases the energy in the thermal store of the object. This either raises the system’s temperature or, produces a change of state (e.g. solid>liquid)
When is mechanical work done?
When a force acts over a distance (work done by forces)
What is current?
The flow of charge
When does a current flow?
When there’s a potential difference applied to the circuit - this is provided by the power supply or a cell
What is the electrical work done by the power supply when a current flows?
Energy transferred electrically from the power supply to the components in the circuit
