**CNS**

responsible for transmitting and receiving neural messages to and from the PNS.

**PNS**

responsible for carrying information to and from the CNS.

**Brain**

processes information received from the body, and directs actions within the body

**Spinal cord**

receives sensory info from the body, to the brain, receives motor info from the brain and sends it to the body

**Somatic NS**

Carries sensory information from the body to the CNS, and motor information from the CNS to the skeletal muscles 

**Autonomic Nervous System**

automatically regulate the functioning of visceral muscles, organs, and glands.

**Sympathetic Nervous System**

physiologically arouses the body when a threat is perceived

**Parasympathetic Nervous System**

physiologically calms body to normal state after threat has subsided
