Multicultural Society

British Values
Fundamental values such as democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, tolerance, and mutual respect.
Suffragette Movement
A movement aimed at extending the right to vote to women in the early 20th century.
Census
A government survey conducted every ten years to gather information about the population and demographics.
Devolution
The transfer of powers from a central government to regional or local governments.
Asylum Seeker
A person who seeks protection in another country from persecution in their homeland.
Net Migration
The difference between the number of immigrants and emigrants in a country in a given time period.
Pressure Groups
Organizations that advocate for specific causes and aim to influence public policy.
Employment Rights
Legal rights afforded to employees to ensure fair treatment and working conditions.
BME (British Minority Ethnic)
Groups in the UK that are not part of the white British ethnic majority.

Universal Declaration of Human Rights
A milestone document that proclaimed the inalienable rights which everyone is inherently entitled to.
EU Referendum
A public poll held in 2016 to decide the UK's membership in the European Union.
Foreign Aid
Economic assistance provided by governments and NGOs to support developing nations.
Diversity
The inclusion of different types of people in a group or organization.
Refugee
A person who has fled their country due to persecution or danger.
Trade Union
An organized association of workers formed to protect and further their rights and interests.
Voting System
The method by which votes are counted and representatives are elected in an electoral process.
Civil Rights
The rights of citizens to political and social freedom and equality.
Tolerant Society
A society that accepts and respects different beliefs, practices, and backgrounds.
Cultural Heritage
The legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group inherited from past generations.
